Yoga and Immunity
On-demand Restorative practice with Judith Hanson Lasater, Ph.d, PT, and Lizzie Lasater
In the last few years, we have read and heard so much about “ immunity”. Luckily, it turns out that studies are beginning to show that the practice of yoga can have a very positive effect on the functioning of our immune system.
There is a paradox here, however. Yoga practice is not about making ourselves different. It is about inviting and creating an environment in our body, mind, and with our spirit, that allows our natural health and goodness to flourish.
Practicing yoga, especially Restorative yoga, does not necessarily make us different or better or well.
Restorative yoga reduces our stress and agitation for sure. This creates the environment within which it is easier for the immune system to succeed in re-establishing our natural state of health.
In this state, our body and mind find their own healing. Thus, the paradox is that our yoga practice allows what is already there, our healthy self, to manifest more easily.
We are most ourselves when we are still. Through stillness and rest we find our natural balance point.
Join us to practice the art of deep rest, and to discover the residue of health it leaves.
